I started this organization last year, knowing that giving teddy bears to police officers was a good idea. I think most people also realize this and think our cause is a good idea. I want to share a letter with you that really puts our mission in perspective and deeply inspires me to get more bears into the hands of children who need them. I have shared this letter before, but it says so much about the importance of what we’re doing that I want to share it again.
JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW THAT, YESTERDAY 04-14-10, WE RECEIVED A SHIPMENT OF 32 BEARS.
TWO OF THE BEARS ARE ALREADY ON THEIR WAY TO FAMILY MEMBERS OF A RECENT HOMICIDE VICTIM HERE IN PHILADELPHIA.THESE BEARS ARE REALLY NICE AND A SPECIAL NOTE IS ATTACHED TO EACH ONE.
OUR VICTIM ASSISTANCE OFFICER CATHERINE BATTLE WILL BE DISTRIBUTING MANY OF THE BEARS TO CHILDREN OF HOMICIDE VICTIMS.

Every day, police officers enter into the lives of children who unexpectedly find themselves in tragic situations. These children are emotionally fragile and must be “handled with care”. A calm, soothing word and a teddy bear can go a long way toward making a traumatic experience just a little brighter and more hopeful. We may never know the full impact we have, but we need to find and create more stories like this. Can you help?
