I have often read that a nonprofit organization needs to be transparent, and I believe that this applies to everything, not just finances. In this edition of #FollowFriday, I would like to let you know more about who we are, because it plays an important part in why I am mentioning people.
If you haven’t figured it out from Twitter, I am running everything here from home. I have chronic headaches and back pain, so I am really thankful some days that I don’t have to go anywhere. We are a new organization with very little funds and a small (but growing!) base of supporters. That makes me appreciate it even more when people tweet or blog about us.
I can’t mention everyone, but these are just a few people who have really gone out of their way to support us lately.
- @dontcallmedotty @briannesbasics – Heather has blogged and tweeted about us, started raising money for our cause, and is one of the hosts for @MilesTheBear.
- @Doodlekins – A very supportive group of people who tweet about us and share us on Facebook. We are proud to call them our supporters and our friends.
- @KidsAreHeroes – I have already shared with you the story of how Gabe and I connected on Twitter. His amazing organization has already held an event that led to 32 bears being sent to the Major Investigations unit of the Philadelphia Police Department, and they are gearing up to do it again! Gabe, thank you for all of the work you have done for us, and for taking the time to give me advice about Twitter and social media.
- @ilovebearhaven – Lesa connected with us on Twitter by seeing someone else tweeting about us, and I think that’s how Heather did too. (Isn’t it fun how Twitter works?) She immediately signed up to host @MilesTheBear and has just shipped 8 of her bears to Philadelphia for us. Thank you, Lesa. I’m glad we connected.
There are many more of you out there. If I haven’t mentioned you, it is not because I don’t appreciate you. Every one of you is a part of our organization. If we have done great things, it is only because you have. Thank you all!
